Ashley Haire Appointed as New Transportation Director for Asheville
The City of Asheville is excited to announce the appointment of Ashley Haire as its new Transportation Director, effective November 12, 2024. This announcement was made by City Manager Debra Campbell, who expressed her enthusiasm for Haire's leadership and expertise in the transportation sector.
Ashley Haire, a native of North Carolina, grew up in the Raleigh area. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona, as well as a Doctorate in Transportation Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. With over 24 years of experience in various aspects of transportation, including Complete Streets planning, highway design, transit operations, and climate adaptation, Haire brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and six other states.
In her capacity as Transportation Director, Haire will be responsible for overseeing all transportation-related functions within the city. This includes managing transit services, parking operations, transportation planning, and traffic engineering. Haire is committed to advancing Asheville’s vision of a truly multimodal community, ensuring that all transportation needs are met equitably.
