Charlotte Pride Weekend: Public Transportation and Parking Options for Attendees
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The vibrant Queen City is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual Charlotte Pride weekend, taking place this Saturday and Sunday. As hundreds of thousands of attendees prepare to join in the celebration, navigating the city could present some challenges.
The festivities will unfold across a significant area of Uptown, with the designated “Festival Zone” extending along Tryon Street from Good Samaritan Way to Fourth Street. The lively parade will proceed down Tryon Street starting from Ninth Street and will make a turn onto Fourth Street.
Given the scale of the events, utilizing public transportation may be the most convenient option for festival-goers heading Uptown.
Light rail stations are conveniently located on Brooklyn Village Avenue, as well as at Third, Trade, and Seventh streets, all within a two-block radius of the festival activities. Additionally, CATS will be operating buses throughout the city, with numerous stops in and around Uptown.
For those interested in exploring the city’s public transportation options, further details can be found here.
For attendees who prefer to drive, parking facilities are available, but it's advisable to arrive early as lots are expected to fill quickly, and surge pricing may be in effect. A selection of nearby parking decks can be found here, along with the option to reserve a parking spot in advance. The Mint Street deck is also a potential parking location for those attending the festival.
Rideshare services, including Uber and Lyft, present additional alternatives for getting to the event.
It’s important to note that weather forecasts indicate a possibility of rain and storms on both Saturday and Sunday, which could affect travel plans to and from the festival. Stay tuned to WBTV for the latest weather updates and forecasts.
