Overnight Delays Expected on Route 360 Near Downing Bridge from October 20 to 24
Travelers planning to use Route 360 in the Tappahannock area should prepare for overnight delays starting Sunday, October 20, and continuing through early Thursday, October 24. The delays will occur near the Downing Bridge, which connects the Town of Tappahannock with Richmond County, as paving work is scheduled for both approaches to the bridge.
From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, Route 360 will be reduced to a single lane, allowing for necessary paving operations over the Rappahannock River. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and expect possible delays during these hours.
To facilitate smooth traffic flow, automated flagging devices may be implemented to manage one-way, alternating traffic through the construction zone. Additionally, message boards will be strategically placed at both ends of the bridge to inform drivers about the ongoing work and potential delays.
Weather permitting, the paving work on the Downing Bridge is expected to be completed by the end of next week, ensuring that traffic can return to normal conditions as soon as possible. Travelers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and allow extra time for their journeys during this period.
